Indonesia-Australia Launched Forest Fires Monitoring System

Our close monitoring on local news media showed that the government of Indonesia and Australia launched a forest fires monitoring system, Indofire. MODIS satellite information is presented online in real time.

In receiving, processing and distributing data in web format and considering large amount of data to be processed and network security, the use virtual private network internet protocol (VPN IP) is planned to be used. The network, according to Deputy of LAPAN's Remote Sensing will connect all servers in Directorate of Ministry of Forestry, LAPAN, LAPAN Rumpin Earth Station, Pare-pare, BKSDA Central Kalimantan and Riau, with the Internet main gateway in the Directorate.

The latest update showed that Riau and South Kalimantan will be the place for the pilot project of Indofire.
