Latest Weather and Haze Situation
Dry weather continued to prevail over the Mekong sub-region. Widespread dense haze was observed in many areas, extending across eastern Myanmar, many parts of Thailand, and northern Lao PDR. Some of the smoke haze was blown by the prevailing southwesterly winds toward Viet Nam. Dense haze was also observed to emanate from hotspots in Cambodia. Isolated hotspots with smoke haze were observed in other parts of Myanmar and southern Viet Nam. In the southern ASEAN region, there were scattered shower activities but drier weather prevailed over Peninsular Malaysia and northern parts of Sumatra.
Weather and Haze Outlook
In the Mekong sub-region, hotspot activities and hazy conditions are likely to persist under prolonged dry weather. Prevailing winds are expected to continue blowing from the south or southwest. In the southern ASEAN region, shower activities can be expected over areas south of the Equator. Prevailing winds are forecast to blow mainly from the northeast.
